Ribbit, ribbit!

All the cousins were playing out in Nanny's backyard today, when Joshie stormed inside yelling "There's a fwoggy, a fwoggy!".
Mum and I both bolted outside, both of us were having flashbacks to my childhood.... I was freakin excited, my brother and I used to jump the back fence into the golf course and go tadpoling all the time, and brought many home to try and get some frogs.  My Mum however, was remembering the last time she had a little kid come inside and tell her of a frog in the backyard...it was us as kids, and the frog was actually a snake!! Gah!
Luckily for Mum, and the kids hovering close around the animal, this was infact a frog :)
The kids found it up behind Papa's garage, under a car tyre

Muma showing JackJack the "fwoggy"
Gotcha! We put the fwoggy in a container to keep him as a pet

Mil, Josh and Deccie searching for insects to feed our lil friend
Muma and JackJack took the fwoggy home and set him up in a tank
Fwoggy exploring the water end of the tank

When we woke up in the morning, Daddy was not impressed we caught our fwoggy, and infact told us it is more likely a toad and that he will not help us feed it and we should take fwoggy back to where we found him.
So....after Muma through a little tanty, promised him I knew how to look after a fwoggy and that me and my bro used to have them all the time as kids.....fwoggy has now been released back into Nanny and Papa's backyard to be free(which is prob for the best, he burrowed under the stones and hid himself so made for a boring pet! lol).
But, maybe some good has come from this....a step closer to our own "bishies" I hope....Daddy told JackJack that hopefully soon we can afford to fill the tank with fish
YAY *happy dance*

I think that was a banjo or pobblebonk frog...they are pretty common. We have brought tadpoles fromt he aquarium shop to raise in the past...we hav eone frog left now who is about 2 years old! They make great pets for kids and they eat crickets from the local pet shop!Maybe next time you be allowed to keep him for a few weeks at least!

Yeah, we knew to feed it crickets, but hubby was against having to pay to feed it....I was madley catching ants and other bugs but that didn't change his mind :(
Oh well, let's hope he fills our tank with fishies soon!!!
